Alvacir Wesley Kalatai Alberti of Imbituva, Brazil, is the first student to graduate from the American Academy, a dual-enrollment program offered jointly at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ and the Pontifical Catholic University of Parana, located in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil.

Where do you go to find your weekend plans? "Where On the Web?" is an ongoing series that introduces possibly unfamiliar pages and features on the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ website that students, faculty and staff should know about. One informative section of the website is the Events Calendar which can be used by anyone and features events from all eight °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ campuses.

Students Aim to Make °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ â€˜Most Refugee-Welcoming Campus in America’

Turmoil from recent wars and tragedies causes millions to be displaced from their homes every year. This year is no exception with the intensifying conflict in Ukraine, forcing millions of refugees to find safety elsewhere. Not only do these refugees need shelter, but they also need education and the opportunity to have new life experiences in different countries.

In advance of Monday’s observance of the Juneteenth federal holiday, we asked members of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ community to reflect on the federal holiday and share their thoughts on what they hope it means for the university.

Recent graduate and former USG President Chazzlyn Jackson stepped into her passion for social issues while a student at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ.

When recent Undergraduate Student Government (USG) President Chazzlyn Jackson started her journey at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ in 2018, she had planned to major in fashion until a mentor with Kupita/Transiciones (K/T) cultural orientation program helped her tap into her leadership abilities and passion for social justice issues. The advice played a pivotal role for Jackson, who stepped into leadership roles and anti-racism advocacy and has not looked back.

Spring graduates Benjamin Wales-McGrath and Jameson Payne

During °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ’s spring 2022 commencement on May 14, Jameson Payne will earn his bachelor’s degree in integrative studies with concentrations in physics and political science. Benjamin Wales-McGrath will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in cellular and molecular biology at the age of 18.

Finally Janes Reinart will become a °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ Golden Flash at the spring commencement on May 14, 2022

After a 21-year absence, Chagrin Falls resident James Reinart will be crossing the stage at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ’s spring commencement ceremonies on May 14, 2022, to become a Golden Flash alumnus.

Dylan Mace, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ Student Board Trustee, was recently recognized for his outstanding service.

Leadership roles in the Interfraternity Council and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity served as preparation for Dylan Mace's service on the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ Board of Trustees when Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine appointed him in July 2020. Mace’s two-year term, in which he served as a member of the Board’s Academic Excellence and Student Success Committee and the Finance and Administration Committee, will expire May 16, 2022.

The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ Board of Trustees recently approved the naming of the Burton D. Morgan Foundation Entrepreneurship Suite, a space that includes the LaunchNET offices, the Marty Erbaugh i3 Lab and surrounding areas within the Design Innovation (DI) Hub.

Isobel Day, a junior political science major at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ and Newman Civic Fellow

Taking action in addressing issues of inequality and political polarization, demonstrating motivation and potential for long term civic engagement and engaging with others to create social change are all ways one could be committed to service. These qualities are the requirements for the Newman Civic Fellowship and traits that Isobel Day, Newman Civic Fellow, exemplifies.
